Quantum Profile Systems’ Dacatie brand specialises in insulated cavity closers, fire-rated cavity barriers, fire socks and associated accessories designed for window and door reveals in masonry or timber-frame constructions. Their insulated cavity closers (e.g., TF1000, TF2000, Supafix) offer continuous thermal and moisture protection across cavity widths from 50 mm to 160 mm, meeting Part L Building Regulations, reducing condensation and improving air-tightness with zero ODP and low GWP insulation. Product Description
TFR1000 is fully insulated cavity closers are an ideal choice for builders and specifiers for the closing of cavities around window and door openings. They comply with Part L Building Regulations and can be used for first or second fix installation of doors and windows and in check reveal situations.
It has a rigid PVCu profile enclosing a core of CFC/HCFC free insulation that forms a continuous insulated cavity closer around door and window openings. This prevents cold bridging, damp penetration, air infiltration and condensation. Suitable for use in conventional brick & block and timber frame constructions, on all reveals or cavities. It is suited to all types of windows and door frame materials including timber, PVCu and aluminium.
Fire Resistance
Fire resistance testing of TFR1000 fire rated cavity closers was carried out at Warrington Fire Research. The test utilised the general principles for fire resistance testing given in BS476: Part 20: 1987 “methods for determination of the fire resistance elements of construction” to determine performance under this criteria.
TFR1000 provides a minimum of 60 minutes in regards of fire integrity.
Installation Details
FIRST FIX: First fix applications may be achieved by fixing the closer to a timber former or window and incorporating into the brickwork as it is constructed forming a template to build consistent cavities. First fix cavity closer application requires DTU fixing ties every 225mm.
SECOND/ RETRO FIX: Second fix applications are possible by cutting the closer to length, push fitting into the cavity and nailing to the blockwork. The ribbed surface of the TF range will accept wet plaster or plasterboard on dabs. Best practice would suggest priming the closer surface prior to finishing.
