PLASTIC v TERRACOTTA

Plastic

The structure of plastic pipes is more likely to withstand ground movements.
The flexibility of plastic allows for adjustments in alignment.
Plastic pipes are flexible and resist impacts from surrounding work far better than their clay counterparts.Shocks and impact damage can generate cracks or breaks.

Terracotta

Slight movement or settling in the ground around the pipe can disturb couplings and potentially cause water leaks with clay drainage.
Heavy vehicle movement over pipes under driveways or roads can result in total drain collapse.
Clay pipes are rigid. Any misalignment means that debris may be snagged on the inside causing partial or even full drain blockages.
