Understanding Two-Part Resin Systems

Two-part resin systems consist of two separate components that, when combined, create a chemical reaction resulting in a strong, flexible, and durable bond. In the context of paving jointing, these two components typically include:

1. Resin binder: The primary component that provides adhesion and strength to the joint. It’s designed to withstand various environmental factors, including temperature fluctuations.

2. Hardener: This component initiates the curing process when mixed with the resin binder. It ensures rapid setting and hardening of the jointing material, so that you can get your patio finished faster.

3. Very High-Quality Sand: This is where your own personal preference comes into play. We offer 3 different sand colours for you to choose from Buff (Sand), Grey and Black. The colour of the lid on the bucket indicates the colour of the sand inside. At Joint-It, we only source the best quality sand on the market which is colour-matched to ensure consistency and reliability.

Joint-It Expert Top Tips!

• Joint-It Dynamic can be used on both permeable and non-permeable bases.
• Joint-It Dynamic is not suitable for V joints.
• Joints must be a minimum of 5mm wide and 20mm deep to ensure the product is secure.
• We strongly recommend Limestone and Flamed/Honed Black Granite are pre-sealed prior to application of Joint-It Dynamic. Flamed, honed or Egyptian stone must be sealed both sides prior to applying Joint-It Dynamic or any other jointing material.
• While this product is low maintenance, all patios require some level of maintenance annually, particularly in shaded areas or after the winter.
• Dog and cat urine have an acidic pH that can cause serious damage to slabs and joints, especially if not cleaned right away, leading to both aesthetic and financial damages. Urine can cause corrosion, so having your slabs sealed can prevent this from happening. If you have pets who frequent your paving or patio, it is good practice to wash it every few days to prevent long-term damage to the joints and slabs.

Maintenance

All outdoor surfaces require some maintenance when exposed to the changing weather conditions and foot/vehicle traffic. We recommend cleaning your patio every 3 to 4 months to keep it looking new. If a power washer is required, we recommend no more than 1500 PSI or 100 Bar water pressure, using a standard spray jet and not a turbo spinner. This will depend on how shaded your area is and how many overhanging plants there are.

Slabs must be fully secure and unmoving prior to applying Joint-It Dynamic. Any movement in the slabs must be rectified before the jointing process.

When applying Joint-It Dynamic, take care to use plenty of water and remove all excess product from the top of the slabs at the end of the application.
