Product Description
BOSS™ Gastite was formulated specifically for the former regional Gas Boards to be used for all standard jointing applications. BS6891:1998 prohibits the use of any hemp on low pressure gas pipework in domestic premises except in conjunction with a ‘thread sealing compound’ for long screw backnut seals.
British Gas spec IM/16 ‘recognises’ that in addition to a jointing paste, the use of hemp may be necessary to produce a sound joint with screwed joints of 2” and above. All threads must be free of oil/grease prior to applying the compound. Hemp is recommended as reinforcement on 2” thread and over.
