Stepping Stones for YAA Landing Pad

Myers Building Supplies Huddersfield branch, in association with supplier Bradstone, donated a number of stepping stones recently to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Airbase at Nostell for use as a landing pad.

Captain Andy Lister, Director of Aviation at YAA, commented:

The 2D circle which has been installed at our Airbase at Nostell near Wakefield will form part of our ongoing training for our pilots and aircrew. The circles depict the minimum diameter that our new Airbus H145 helicopters can be landed in. They measure 90ft in diameter – that is twice the length of the helicopters from the rear of the tail boom, to the tip of a rotor blade when positioned straight forward and parallel to the nose of the helicopter. As part of our continued commitment to flight safety, the circle will allow the pilots to be constantly reminded of the minimum space they should be aiming to land in when out on a mission. From above, they will see the circle every time they depart and approach the airbase. We thank Myers Building Supplies sincerely for their generous donation of the building materials which have formed the circle. Support like this is invaluable to the charity and we are extremely grateful.
